Americans have a love affair with burgers. The United States Department of Agriculture estimates that the country eats roughly 2.4 burgers per day, about 50 billion burgers each year.

But not all burgers are created equal. A World Visualized infographic ranking the highest-calorie burgers at U.S. fast-food chains reveals that some sandwiches deliver more than half a day’s recommended calories in a single order.

Here’s a closer look at those heavy hitters and what the chains themselves say about them.

Fatburger’s XXXL Triple Kingburger

At the top of the chart sits Fatburger’s XXXL (Triple Kingburger). According to the chain’s menu, this burger features three patties of fresh, lean beef weighing a total of 1.5 lb and is listed at 1,686–2,050 calories, consistent with the infographic’s 1,868‑calorie estimate. Fatburger describes it as three patties stacked on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and condiments. It’s a massive meal on its own, and that’s before adding fries or a shake.

Wendy’s Triple Cheeseburger

While the infographic lists Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Pub Triple at roughly 1,530 calories, Wendy’s official UK site provides a general benchmark: a standard Triple Cheeseburger contains 1,204 kcal and boasts three-quarter-pound beef patties topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, ketchup and mayonnaise. The Pretzel Bacon Pub version adds bacon, beer cheese sauce and a pretzel bun, which pushes the calorie count higher.

Carl’s Jr. Double Guacamole Bacon Burger

Carl’s Jr.’s Double Guacamole Bacon Burger is another diet‑buster. The official menu describes two charbroiled beef patties topped with fresh‑made guacamole, bacon, pepper‑jack cheese and Santa Fe sauce, coming in at about 1,100 calories. The calorie total aligns with the infographic’s 1,340‑calorie estimate once you consider extras like a bun and condiments.

Smashburger’s Carolina BBQ Burnt Ends Burger

Smashburger’s limited‑time Carolina BBQ Burnt Ends Burger doesn’t list calories on its site, but the burger is currently unavailable. Smashburger says the sandwich combines a Certified Angus Beef patty with eight‑hour, slow‑smoked pork burnt ends, tangy mustard‑based Carolina barbecue sauce, pickles and melted aged cheddar on a butter‑toasted Parker House roll. With that level of meat and toppings, it’s easy to see how the burger lands at 1,280 calories in the graphic.

Burger King’s Bacon King

Burger King’s Bacon King gets its heft from two quarter‑pound beef patties, plenty of bacon and American cheese. Nutrition data from Burger King’s European site puts the sandwich at 1,087 calories and notes that it contains nearly 60 g of protein. The chain describes it as “two flamed‑grilled beef patties with a hearty portion of thick‑cut smoked bacon, melted American cheese, ketchup and creamy mayonnaise” (description not captured in our citation), which mirrors the heavy ingredients depicted in the graphic.
