It therefore comes as no surprise that Morocco was on the favourite list even for some Ghanaian fans in New York . Cape Verde, whose performance at the tournament earned global praise, emerged as a favourite for some fans who spoke to Global South World. Senegal, on the other hand, though highly favoured by many Ghanaians to advance further in the tournament, turned out to be a disappointment for some fans. 

Jerry Adinkra, an entrepreneur and a leading member of the Ghanaian community in Brooklyn, was particularly excited about Cape Verde’s courage and focus throughout the tournament. Kwabena Nsiah, a football fan and avid player, said he did not support the Black Stars due to their often underwhelming performances at the World Cup.

His top pick, however, included Morocco and Senegal . For Peter Wiredu, a cab driver, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should shoulder the blame for the Black Stars’ not-so-exciting performance, and not the coach.
