The head of the Ica regional police , General Raul Roque Palomino, said emergency teams were securing the crash site and recovering the bodies.

Palomino said authorities were also working to establish the cause of the crash.

"We have criminal investigation personnel who came with me," he said. "Criminalistics experts are coming, [...] tomorrow the presence of the Air Accident Investigation Board is expected, so that they can determine the causes of the accident."

The Provincial Municipality of Nazca confirmed the aircraft belonged to Aerodiana with registration OB-2001 and expressed its condolences to the victims' families.

The aircraft departed from Pisco airport for a sightseeing flight over the Nazca Lines and Geoglyphs before crashing on farmland in the Pueblo Viejo sector, a few kilometres from the city of Nazca.

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism said it was coordinating support for the families of the foreign victims through their respective embassies.

The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics said the investigation into the crash would be carried out by the competent authorities, which will determine the causes and responsibilities in accordance with the law .
