In third place is Arkansas, contributing approximately 25 million turkeys to the national supply—accounting for 12% of the total. Home to major poultry companies such as Butterball and Tyson Foods, Arkansas plays a pivotal role in feeding the nation, underscoring the importance of its poultry industry.

In a speech delivered at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., Harris emphasised her preparedness to lead the nation and drew sharp contrasts between her vision and that of her opponent, former President Donald Trump.

"If he is elected, on day one, Donald Trump will walk into that office with an enemies list. When I am elected, I will walk in with a to-do list," she added.

The choice of the Ellipse as the venue for her speech was symbolic. It was from this location that Trump addressed his supporters before the January 6 Capitol attack.

Harris used this backdrop to remind voters of the stakes in this election: "We know we have an opportunity in this election to turn the page on a decade of Donald Trump, who has been trying to keep us divided and afraid of each other. We know that is who he is, but North Carolina that is not who we are."

The former president, Donald Trump on the other hand, is running for a second, non-consecutive term as the Republican nominee, with Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate.
