Speaking during her morning press conference on Monday, Sheinbaum was also asked about the risk of possible US interference in Mexico's 2030 presidential election .

The question came a day after the first round of Brazil's presidential election on October 4, where Flavio Bolsonaro received more valid votes than President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

On the same day, Brazil's Federal Police said it had opened a preliminary investigation into possible US interference in the election following a request from the Office of the Attorney General (AGU).

Sheinbaum said her government has repeatedly raised concerns about possible interference by sections of the international right.

"Well, the international right, yes. If it wants to intervene, we have been denouncing it constantly," she said.

Sheinbaum said she was not necessarily referring to US President Donald Trump . However, she claimed there were very right-wing groups within his government that were hostile towards Mexico and other countries and wanted "a change of government in Mexico".

Her remarks come as her government continues to stress that security cooperation between Mexico and the US must respect Mexican sovereignty and established institutional procedures.

Sheinbaum also questioned the laying of the foundation stone for an International Police Training Academy in the state of Queretaro.

US Ambassador to Mexico Ronald Johnson attended the ceremony, but according to Sheinbaum, the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Defence and federal Security Cabinet were not invited.

She said the governor and the US ambassador would have to explain how the project was moved forward.

"Neither the ambassador requested any permission from the Foreign Ministry, nor the governor. And I repeat: there cannot be training in Mexico by a the US agency if it does not go through the Foreign Ministry. That is the law ," Sheinbaum said.

The Queretaro project is expected to provide police training focused on detecting and intercepting drugs, weapons, illicit money and other forms of contraband.

Information released about the initiative puts the investment at more than 30 million pesos, around $1.6 million.
