“There are agreements in place. But they don’t give them to us. They say, ‘We can’t.’ They’re sending everything - and have sent everything - to the Middle East ,” Zelensky claimed.

His remarks come amid growing tensions between Kyiv and Washington following disagreements over US military support and intelligence-sharing.

Ukraine recently accused the United States of restricting intelligence-sharing and Starlink services, allegations denied by the White House.

Trump has also suggested that Ukraine should have a new president, further straining relations between the two leaders.

Meanwhile, US envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters in Washington, DC, on Monday, Trump argued that Ukraine could have secured a better agreement if Zelensky had followed his advice earlier in the conflict.

The remarks came after a reporter questioned Trump about Zelensky's criticism of his position on the war.

"Zelensky says you're on the wrong side of history on this one," a reporter put to him.

"Zelensky says? Zelensky doesn't know what he's talking about. Zelensky is a man that should have had this war settled a long time ago. If he would have listened to me, he would have made a much better deal a long time ago and had half a million people living from his side. And to be honest, I don't think I think it's time for somebody else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine, because what's happened, very little land is moved, but a million people, a tremendous number of people are dead," Trump hit back.

Trump continued his criticism, arguing that Ukraine had suffered significant losses and that a different negotiator might be needed.

"They're losing their male population . Ukraine could have had this thing settled a long time ago if he would have listened to me. And you remember the Oval Office; he would have had this settled a long time ago. Maybe it's time for Zelensky to get somebody else to negotiate," he reiterated.

The comments followed a series of disagreements between Washington and Kyiv over peace negotiations, Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil facilities and US cooperation with Moscow.

On Sunday, Trump wrote on social media that he was "in the process of negotiating Peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine" and that "great progress is being made".

However, he also criticised Ukraine's attacks on Russian diesel refineries, claiming that "Zelensky is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets".

Trump added that "Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World."

He further accused Zelensky of being unwilling to end the conflict despite financial assistance from Europe and the previous US administration.

"Zelensky doesn’t care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn’t want to end this war, and probably never did. He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead," Trump said.

The dispute intensified after Trump described Zelensky on Thursday as 'not a good guy for us to deal with… he doesn't want to settle'.

The US president called for elections in Ukraine, criticised attacks on Russian refineries as 'a disgrace' and claimed that Zelensky was 'more difficult to deal with than Putin'.

Zelensky had earlier told a UK media outlet that Ukraine would resume attacks on Russian refineries after restricting them for three days.

"The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done."

On Wednesday, Zelensky also accused Trump of 'betraying' him following suggestions that Washington had suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine. Trump denied the allegation.

The US president subsequently called for a 'new Ukrainian president' after Zelensky criticised Washington's latest diesel agreement with Russia.

Tensions have also emerged between Kyiv and Elon Musk over satellite internet services.

Zelensky accused Musk's SpaceX of cutting Starshield satellite internet access and warned that 'people will die'.

Musk responded on social media that it was "time for Zelensky to go".

On Friday, Zelensky joined European Union leaders amid reports of concern over his worsening relationship with Washington.

Speaking to reporters in Brussels on Friday, Zelensky said Ukrainian forces relied on the satellite service to operate high-speed interceptor drones.

"I’ll be open and frank: this was a very unpleasant and dangerous surprise - a surprise involving Starlink," he went on. "We use special interceptors that move at high speed - interceptor drones that operate specifically with Starlink. So Starlink was not shut off; its speed was reduced. And once the speed was reduced, we could no longer shoot them down."

The Ukrainian leader also denied using Starlink to carry out strikes against targets inside Russia, saying Kyiv had requested permission to use the service for such operations.

"We do not use Starlink to launch attacks or carry out retaliatory strikes on Russian territory. That is precisely why we appealed to SpaceX and the White House to enable this capability for us," he said.

Earlier in the week, Zelensky accused Elon Musk's SpaceX of cutting Starshield satellite internet access, warning that 'people will die' as a result.

Musk responded on social media, saying it was "time for Zelensky to go".

He also condemned Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries , describing the strikes as 'a disgrace'.

Trump further claimed that Zelensky was 'more difficult to deal with than Putin'.

The criticism followed Zelensky's announcement that Ukraine was resuming attacks on Russian refineries after temporarily restricting the operations.

Speaking to a UK media outlet, Zelensky said the restrictions had been in place for three days before being lifted.

"The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done."

The diplomatic dispute had already intensified on Wednesday when Zelensky accused Trump of 'betraying' him following suggestions that Washington had suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

Trump denied the allegation.

The US president also called for a 'new Ukrainian president' after Zelensky criticised Washington's latest diesel agreement with Russia.

He also announced plans to accelerate production of interceptor drones , saying prototypes already existed but needed to be deployed effectively and produced at greater scale.

Zelensky said combat aircraft were currently carrying much of the burden of intercepting jet-powered drones.

Earlier on Thursday, he chaired a meeting of Ukraine's Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff focused on increasing production of high-speed drone interceptors and involving businesses in manufacturing air defence systems.

Zelensky also said Kiev was preparing for talks with envoys of the US president , who were expected to hold meetings in both Ukraine and Russia.

Zelensky thanked Syrsky for his service, highlighting his role in the defence of Kyiv, the Kharkiv counteroffensive and the Kursk operation.

"The fact is that Oleksandr Syrsky ensured Ukraine's results in the defence of Kiev. In the Kharkov offensive operation, in the Kursk operation... a significant path has been travelled," he said.

The president also said he had offered former defence chief Mykhailo Fedorov a "worthy position in the government " focused on strengthening Ukraine's technological development.

Fedorov's dismissal last week sparked protests across the country. Zelensky declined to publicly explain the reasons for the move, saying he did not want to disclose information that could benefit Russia.

The reshuffle also saw former Naftogaz chief Serhiy Koretsky appointed prime minister, replacing Yuliia Svyrydenko.

"We demand that the government of the Republic of Poland take all measures to oppose any development of Ukraine's integration process with the European Union . The European Union cannot be based on an ideology contrary to Christian values, European values," Czarnek said.

His remarks followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's May 26 decree granting a Special Operations Forces unit the honorary title "Heroes of the UPA." While Ukraine says the title was chosen by the unit's soldiers and was not intended as an anti-Polish gesture, Poland holds the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) responsible for the wartime massacres of Polish civilians in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia, which it recognises as genocide.

"Ukraine is not doomed to glorify perpetrators of genocide. Ukraine has its own heroes. But Ukraine will not be free and will not be a member of the European Union," Czarnek said.

Ukraine applied for EU membership on February 28, 2022, four days after the conflict with Russia began. It was granted candidate status in June 2022, with EU leaders agreeing to open accession negotiations in December 2023. Formal talks began on June 25, 2024, followed by a screening process to assess Ukraine's alignment with EU legislation. Ukraine completed that process in September 2025, and on June 15, 2026, the EU and Kyiv opened the first negotiating cluster covering the rule of law, fundamental rights , democratic institutions, public administration reform and economic criteria, Viory reports.

"The decision of the Ukrainian authorities to glorify the UPA is not only outrageous, it is also incomprehensible and deeply disappointing," Nawrocki said. "It strikes at the foundation of reconciliation. It strikes at the conviction that truth can be the common language of our nations."

The Polish president stressed that his decision was not directed against the Ukrainian people and did not alter Warsaw's strategic support for Kyiv.

"Poland remains ready to cooperate with Ukraine," he said. "But Poland will consistently guard the memory of its citizens and the dignity of its own state symbols...Poland will not agree to the glorification of those who murdered defenseless Polish civilians."

"Ukraine's path to European structures also requires a readiness to honestly face the difficult pages of its own history. For those who do not understand this, there can be no place in the European Union , and Poland will certainly not allow that," he added.

He warned that there were "limits that must not be crossed" in Polish-Ukrainian relations and urged Kyiv to return to what he called a path of truth and mutual respect.

Zelensky was awarded the Order of the White Eagle in 2023 by then-president Andrzej Duda. He had not commented on Nawrocki's decision at the time of publication.

The UPA was a nationalist armed group active during and after World War II. Poland holds UPA units responsible for massacres of Polish civilians in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia. In 2016, the Polish parliament recognised the killings as genocide and designated July 11 as a national day of remembrance for the victims.

According to the committee, a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle struck a bus belonging to Rechitsa Youth Sports School No. 2 while it was travelling from Belarus on the Gomel–Gelendzhik route.

The bus was carrying 44 passengers, including 28 young athletes heading to a holiday destination.

“Early reports suggest that one woman was killed. Six people were injured. They have been taken to hospital,” Petrenko said, adding that the number of casualties was still being verified.

The Investigative Committee said experienced investigators, forensic experts and other specialists had been assigned to the case.

“The investigation will establish the type of unmanned aerial vehicle and explosives used, as well as the individuals from the Ukrainian Armed Forces responsible for another inhumane crime against civilian children ,” Petrenko stated.

The committee described the incident as a terrorist act and said it would seek to identify those responsible.

He also claimed that some of these weapons had surfaced in conflict zones across Africa and the Middle East . The meeting focused on rising extremist threats and international co-operation, according to the CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre.

Japan tops the world in estimated daily per-capita fermented food consumption, highlighting the enduring role of traditional diets in modern nutrition as scientists continue to explore the health benefits of fermented foods.

According to data compiled from Fermented Food Consumption Analysis, Public Health Nutrition (2024), PubMed Central , and other academic sources, the average person in Japan consumes approximately 360 grams of fermented foods daily, placing the country ahead of South Korea, Ethiopia and several Nordic nations.

Japan's leadership reflects the widespread use of fermented ingredients in everyday meals. Common staples include miso, soy sauce and katsuobushi, all of which are produced through fermentation processes that have been refined over generations.

South Korea ranks second with an estimated 290 grams per person daily, driven largely by the country's famous fermented dishes such as kimchi, doenjang and gochujang. Kimchi alone is consumed regularly by a majority of South Korean households and is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the national diet.

Indonesia rounds out Asia's representation in the top ten with approximately 175 grams per day, supported by traditional foods including tempeh, tape and oncom.

Outside Asia, Ethiopia stands out with an estimated daily consumption of 280–310 grams, reflecting the importance of fermented staples such as injera , the country's iconic sourdough flatbread, as well as traditional fermented beverages including tej and borde.

Northern Europe also performs strongly. Iceland ranks fourth at around 270 grams per day, while Finland and Denmark share fifth place with 260–270 grams daily.

In these countries, fermented dairy products play a central role. Foods such as skyr, viili, piimä and kefir have been consumed for centuries and remain popular components of everyday diets.

Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia all feature prominently in the ranking, reflecting the region's longstanding relationship with fermented milk products and preserved foods.

Bulgaria records approximately 230 grams daily, supported by its globally recognised yoghurt culture. Turkey follows with around 200 grams, where yoghurt, ayran and tarhana continue to be dietary staples.

Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine average about 190 grams, with foods such as ryazhenka, smetana and pickled vegetables remaining common household items.

Growing consumer interest in gut health has brought renewed attention to fermented foods. Research published in journals including Public Health Nutrition and studies indexed by PubMed Central suggest that fermented foods may contribute beneficial microorganisms and bioactive compounds that support digestive health and microbial diversity.

A widely cited Stanford University study found that diets rich in fermented foods were associated with increased microbiome diversity and reduced markers of inflammation in healthy adults.

Researchers caution, however, that the health impact of fermented foods can vary depending on the type of food, preparation methods and overall dietary patterns.

Her comments came after Ukrainian drones struck energy and military sites in Saint Petersburg on Wednesday, coinciding with Russia's flagship economic conference attended by President Vladimir Putin.

Kallas, in an interview, said Ukraine's strategy reflects an effort to reduce the resources available to Russia's military.

"Ukraine has really increased the deep strikes against the oil facilities, because oil is something that is funding the war in Ukraine," she said.

She argued that the attacks were creating pressure on Moscow.

"It clearly shows also panic on the Russian side -- why they are increasing the terrorist attacks that they're doing in Ukraine is because they don't know what to do with these things," Kallas said.

The remarks followed a series of Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine that killed at least 23 people on Tuesday.

Kallas said Russia was facing growing challenges on multiple fronts.

"We see at the same time that Putin is losing money, men, and momentum, and that's why he's increasing attacks on civilians."

She added: "He's clearly terrorising more to create fear, and because he's on a back foot in the battlefield."

"But I think they haven't been able to break the resilience of Ukrainians so far, and I doubt that they're going to do this with these attacks."

The EU is currently preparing a new sanctions package against Moscow, with measures aimed at limiting Russia's ability to finance the war.

Kallas said the proposed sanctions would target Russia's military industry and financial sector.

"We have a very clear goal in mind targeting the military industry, targeting the financial institutions, so that they can't raise capital to finance this war ," she said.

"At the same time we also need to increase support to Ukraine, so that they can defend themselves, because these attacks are atrocious."

Kallas also said there had been little sign that Russia was ready to engage seriously in negotiations.

"Clearly the war in Iran and the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz is taking the attention of the Americans, but I think more important so far we haven't seen the willingness from the Russian side to actually negotiate," she said.

"That's the most important, how we can push them to talk to the Ukrainians, so that they also make concessions that make Europe secure."
