Speaking alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during a joint press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Pezeshkian argued that Iran’s missile capabilities are essential to the country’s security.

“If it was not for Iran's missile capabilities, our country would have been plundered and destroyed and plowed by the US regime and Israel and the Zionist regime, like what the Israelis did in Gaza,” he said.

Pezeshkian also supported Sharif’s position that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) reached between Tehran and Washington does not include provisions related to Iran’s ballistic missile programme.

“We shall never compromise on our missile programme and capabilities. And this shall never be part of any part of any agreement between Iran and any other parties,” he said.

The comments came after US Vice President JD Vance said President Donald Trump had not demanded that Iran abandon its right to self-defence.

Responding to questions about Washington’s position on Iran’s missile programme, Vance said countries retain the right to defend themselves. However, he added that the United States expects any final agreement to include restrictions preventing Iran from developing missiles capable of threatening large areas beyond its borders.

Pezeshkian’s visit to Pakistan included meetings with Prime Minister Sharif and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The trip followed high-level talks between the United States and Iran held on June 21, 2026, in Burgenstock, Switzerland, with Pakistan and Qatar serving as mediators. The discussions focused on implementing the memorandum of understanding reached between Washington and Tehran.

Pakistan and Qatar later announced that both sides had agreed to establish a high-level committee and develop a roadmap toward a final agreement within 60 days.

The mediators also said a communication mechanism would be created to reduce the risk of incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and help safeguard commercial shipping through one of the world ’s most important energy transit routes.

The video, recorded at an undisclosed location, included images of missiles bearing political messages and illustrations linked to the ongoing confrontation between Iran and Israel.

One missile carried a message that read: “In the name of God, a God whose power is greater than any ship, plane, or army. The God of Christ and the God of Moses, the God of all free people of the world . To all the people of the world. We are fighting a criminal gang, the corrupt people of Epstein Island. We will not compromise on the security of our people. To rid the world of corruption and usury. Right on the path of Jesus and Moses.”

The footage also showed a drawing depicting Israeli soldiers carrying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inside a concrete cube.

Additional scenes showed multiple missiles being launched into the night sky. The IRGC did not provide details on the specific targets in the footage.

The video was released amid ongoing hostilities between Iran and Israel, with both sides reporting military operations and missile attacks in recent days. Iranian officials have described the launches as part of their response to Israeli actions, while Israel has continued to activate its air defence systems against incoming projectiles.

"The blow was heavy - 90 missiles of various types, many of them ballistic - 36; 600 drones . Unfortunately, not all ballistic missiles could be shot down. Most of the hits were in Kyiv," he stated, adding, "Putin can barely even say the word 'hurrah' properly, mumbling, yet he is still defeating residential buildings with his missiles."

"Today, everyone in the world who does not stay silent, who helps Ukraine, is a defender of life," Zelensky continued. “Decisions are needed from the United States of America, from Europe, and from others. So that this 'old oreshnik' in Moscow utters the word 'peace’."

Two people lost their lives, and 56 sustained wounds in Kyiv due to the strike, according to the mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

549 of the launched Russian drones and 55 missiles were reportedly intercepted by the Ukrainian air force.

The attack follows the Starobelsk tragedy in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), where 21 people were killed, and 42 others were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on a college. Most of the killed were minors between 14 and 18 years old.

The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on 'terrorism' under Part 3, Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code.

Ukraine's General Staff claimed that the strikes targeted several military facilities, including 'the headquarters of the 'Rubicon', the Centre for Advanced Unmanned Technologies in Starobelsk'.

At the UN Security Council emergency meeting on Friday, Russia's permanent representative Vassily Nebenzia expressed outrage at what he described as a 'blatant mockery of child victims'.

He also criticised Western responses, which denied the attack despite evidence from Moscow and confirmation from Kyiv. The Russian Foreign Ministry has invited foreign journalists to inspect the scene of the tragedy.

On that day, John F. Kennedy announced to the American people that the Cuban Missile Crisis was underway, an explosive revelation that the Soviet Union had secretly deployed nuclear-armed missiles on the island of Cuba, only 90 miles from the U.S. mainland.

The map above captures the gravity of that confrontation: Soviet intermediate-range ballistic missile bases in Cuba, U.S. naval and air “quarantine” (blockade) zones around the island and the looming threat circle stretching deep into the continental United States .

This wasn’t just another Cold War standoff. It was arguably the moment when nuclear war crept into real possibility, when world leaders and citizens alike recognised that missteps might have unleashed catastrophe.

The roots of the crisis lay in a series of strategic moves: the United States had placed medium-range nuclear missiles in Turkey and Italy, threatening Soviet territory, while the Soviet leadership under Nikita Khrushchev responded by emplacing nuclear missiles in Cuba to counter U.S. dominance and protect the regime of Fidel Castro.

Kennedy’s October 22 speech declared that any nuclear attack launched from Cuba would be met with full retaliatory response. Through a naval “quarantine” announced publicly, the U.S. effectively blocked further Soviet shipments to the island.

Within two weeks, the tension subsided, but only after a secret agreement: the Soviets would remove the missiles from Cuba, and the U.S. would privately agree to remove certain missiles from Turkey and Italy. The parties also established a direct communication link, the famed “hotline”, to avoid being so perilously close again.
