Egypt’s bizarre highway chicken heist takes a deadly turn
A bizarre highway robbery that saw thieves steal frozen chicken from a moving lorry in Egypt without the driver noticing has ended in a deadly shootout with police.
Video of the theft showed a gang in a pickup truck driving alongside the refrigerated lorry on a highway as both vehicles continued at speed.
One of the men could be seen climbing onto the pickup's bonnet and reaching the back of the lorry, where he opened its rear doors and began passing boxes of frozen chicken to accomplices.
The unusual heist quickly attracted attention online, with the footage resembling a stunt from an action film.
Egyptian authorities later identified six suspects allegedly involved in the robbery and moved to arrest them, but the case took a violent turn when police tracked them down.
