Iran asks for ceasefire in month-long war with U.S., Israel – Trump

US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Iran has asked Washington for a ceasefire, as the Middle East conflict entered its 30th day and tensions around the Strait of Hormuz continued to roil global energy markets.
“Iran’s new regime… has just asked the United States of America for a ceasefire,” Trump said in a post on his social media, Truth Social. “We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear.”
Trump’s claim has not been confirmed by Iranian officials.
His remarks come as the conflict — now in its second month — intensifies pressure on one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes. The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway linking the Persian Gulf to global markets, handles a significant share of global oil shipments.
Washington has accused Tehran of effectively blockading the strait, disrupting energy flows and driving volatility in oil prices.
The US president also struck a combative tone, warning that military action would continue in the absence of concessions. “Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion,” he said.
Earlier, Trump suggested that successive waves of US-Israeli strikes had already reshaped Iran’s leadership, claiming without evidence that a “new regime” had emerged following the deaths of senior officials.
Tehran has not acknowledged any ceasefire request or direct negotiations with Washington.
