NHC says 70% chance of tropical storm off coast of North Carolina
The system located a few hundred miles (km) east of the North Carolina coast has a 70% chance of becoming a tropical storm in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Sunday.
"This system could acquire some additional tropical characteristics, and a tropical storm is likely to form by Monday well east of the North Carolina coast", the Miami-based forecaster said.
