Crime arrests
The Somali Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly committed murder in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. A statement issued by the police noted that the alleged fugitive Ahmed Abdirahman Abdullahi murdered Mohamed Hassan in the East African country and fled. The statement further added that the Somali government police is putting in measures to bring the suspect to justice. Meanwhile, the Kenyan Police is yet to comment about the incident in their country, Radio Dalsan reported.
Somali army fights terrorism
Over 130 Al-Shabaab fighters have been killed by the Somali National Army in collaboration with the People’s Defense Forces, the Somali National News Agency has reported. The operations which was carried out in areas under Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Jubaland states saw others injured. According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, critical areas in the Mudug region where Al-Shabaab usually operates were liberated. These areas included Shabeloow, the main road of Adlee, Mount Yagoos, Barag Ismail area, the Ceel-dheer and Masagaway towns.

Al-Shabaab leader in Somalia reportedly killed
The United States Army is yet to reveal the actual identity of a terrorist suspected to be a senior Al-Shabaab leader in Somalia, local news outlet Garowe Online reported. This comes after an airstrike targeted at the suspected terrorist who was reportedly on trial before his death on December 17 in Jilib town. The US Africa Command at Middle Jubba said the airstrike left one militant dead and no civilian casualties reported. The demise of Maalin Ayman was announced by the Somali Chief of Defence Forces General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhydin who confirmed the death of the most wanted terrorist in the airstrike, describing the incident as one of the most successful in recent weeks.
President dismisses adviser
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, leader of the Federal Republic of Somalia has dismissed the Presidential Adviser on International Relations and Program Coordinator Nasa Cige. According to Radio Risaala the president thanked his former adviser while emphasizing that the Federal Government of Somalia prioritises strong relations with the world in the face of issues facing the country’s citizens. The president further stressed the need for government officials to work responsibly in the interest of the country and its people.
Somalia wins ODA Award
Somalia has been awarded the Medal of Culture and Art of the Horn of Africa ODA Award. The award was presented to the Deputy Director of the National Culture and Entertainment Agency, Maki Haji Banadir by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdullahi Mohamed Warfaa. The ODA Award is given to countries in the Horn of Africa and international organisations that have made significant progress in the fields of culture, art and literature. The event was held in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia where the announcement was made according to Somali National News Agency.
