Thousands gather in Iran for funeral of school strike victims: Video
Thousands of mourners gathered in the southern Iranian city of Minab on Tuesday, February 3, for the funerals of schoolgirls and others reported killed in a strike on a primary school over the weekend.
Aerial footage showed vast crowds filling streets and public spaces as families paid their respects to victims of what Iranian media identified as an attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school on Saturday. State outlets reported that 165 people, including children, were killed in the strike. The casualty figures have not been independently verified.
Iranian authorities blamed the United States and Israel for the attack. Israel said it was “not aware” of operations in the area, while the United States said it was reviewing the reports.
