Accra Reset marks one year at UNGA 81 with new push for development reform
Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama is bringing global leaders together in New York to review the Accra Reset one year after its launch.
The “Full Circle” event is being held on September 21 on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The initiative seeks to move development away from aid dependency towards national control, stronger institutions and practical delivery.
Mahama will present “A Sovereign Future for Health,” a report proposing reforms to health financing, manufacturing, procurement and accountability.
The programme will also highlight Mother Africa’s maternal and child survival campaign, the Kigali-based Sankoree Institute of Global Negotiators and Masterkey, a proposed digital wallet for verified qualifications and work records.
Participants include Kenyan President William Ruto, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Nigerian Vice-President Kashim Shettima, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
