Ceuta police arrest three after 28 migrants found in overcrowded homes
Spanish National Police arrested three people after raiding two properties in Ceuta where 28 undocumented migrants were allegedly being housed in overcrowded and poor conditions.
Footage released on Thursday showed officers searching the properties before escorting several people to police vehicles. The homes were located in the El Príncipe and Loma Colmenar areas.
Police said the El Príncipe property was still under construction and lacked running water, electricity, adequate ventilation and a kitchen, with migrants sleeping on mattresses on the floor.
Investigators said different individuals managed the two properties and allegedly charged migrants for accommodation. The scheme reportedly generated more than €10,000, while some migrants allegedly paid by carrying out construction and renovation work.
Three of the 28 migrants were minors and were transferred to care facilities after authorities activated child protection procedures.
