China’s 600-metre Golden Dragon lights up Yulong River
A 600-metre Golden Dragon lit up China’s Yulong River as dozens of bamboo rafts joined together for a spectacular Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.
The rafts moved across the river before linking up to form the illuminated dragon, which travelled through Yangshuo’s famous karst landscape as fireworks lit up the sky. Crowds gathered along the riverbanks to watch the display, with visitors praising the spectacle and taking photographs.
The Golden Dragon began as a small village event around 12 years ago and has since become one of the Yulong River’s signature attractions, combining bamboo rafting, folk traditions and lights. The display has also been recreated in Beijing and Suzhou and is listed among Guilin’s municipal-level representative intangible cultural heritage projects.
