Ecuador and South Korea join forces as New BAE Jambelí boosts anti-smuggling fight: Video
Daniel Noboa officially presented the BAE Jambeli, the country’s first multipurpose naval ship, marking a major step in boosting maritime security and tackling organised crime.
The vessel, built and donated by South Korea, will play a key role in surveillance operations, anti-drug trafficking efforts, and controlling illegal activities such as smuggling and illegal fishing. With the capacity to operate for extended periods at sea, it significantly expands Ecuador’s ability to patrol both national and international waters.
Noboa highlighted that this addition is part of a broader security strategy involving international allies like the United States and the United Arab Emirates, aiming to restore safety and stability across the country.
