Ghana military helicopter crash kills defence, environment ministers and six other top officials
A military helicopter crash in Ghana has claimed the lives of eight high-ranking officials, including the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The tragic incident occurred as the Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter, carrying the officials, went off radar en route to Obuasi, a gold mining town in the Ashanti Region, on an official assignment. The aircraft was later confirmed to have crashed, killing all on board.

Describing the crash as a “national tragedy,” the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has ordered that all national flags be flown at half-mast in honour of the fallen officials.
Meanwhile, the vice president is leading an official delegation to commiserate with the families of the deceased officials.
