Hundreds rally in Tel Aviv demanding Arab-backed government to oust Netanyahu

Hundreds of protesters gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday, November 7, calling for a new Israeli government supported by Arab political parties following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's loss of his parliamentary majority.

Demonstrators waved Israeli flags and carried placards at Habima Square, urging opposition leaders to form a coalition capable of replacing Netanyahu.

Protester Tomer Fekete expressed support for a minority government backed by Arab parties, hoping it would reverse controversial judicial reforms and restore stability.

“I hope they last for two years and manage to repeal the judicial overhaul, pass as many beneficial laws as possible, and restore a bit of sanity and functionality to our government,” he said.

Netanyahu's allies secured 53 seats in the October 27 election, while the main opposition won 48 and Arab-led parties gained 19, giving his opponents a combined 67 seats in the 120-member Knesset.

However, coalition negotiations remain complicated, with some opposition leaders unwilling to rely on Arab party support.

President Isaac Herzog announced on Saturday that opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot would receive the mandate to form a government on Sunday.

Eisenkot will have 28 days to secure a parliamentary majority, with a possible two-week extension if negotiations continue.
