Krakow gunman 'held very radical views, acted alone' - Poland Interior Minister says
Poland's Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński has praised the swift police response to a deadly shooting in Krakow that left six people dead and 15 others injured on Saturday.
Speaking at a press briefing, Kierwiński said preliminary evidence suggested the suspect acted alone and held extremist views, dismissing earlier reports of multiple attackers.
The gunman reportedly drove into Krakow's historic Main Market Square at around 3 p.m. local time before opening fire on pedestrians.
Police confronted the attacker within three minutes of receiving the first emergency call, exchanging gunfire before detaining him.
Kierwiński said the rapid response prevented further casualties. Two police officers were wounded, including one who sustained three gunshot injuries and remains in critical condition.
