Israelis rally against Netanyahu government ahead of October election
Demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government as Israel's October 27 parliamentary election approaches. The election date is confirmed by Israel's Central Elections Committee.
Footage showed protesters carrying Israeli flags and placards demanding accountability, including calls for a state commission of inquiry. An installation labelled “Responsibility” featured fake blood on white fabric.
Protester Naor Kapolnik called for broader political change beyond replacing Netanyahu, criticising the government's conduct during the war and the deaths in Gaza. Another demonstrator, Ori Harish, accused the government of refusing to take responsibility for its actions and failures.
Other protesters called for a state commission of inquiry into the October 7, 2023 attacks, equal burden-sharing and a constitution. Demands for such an inquiry have featured prominently in recent anti-government protests.
Some demonstrators also raised concerns about the integrity of the upcoming election, calling for the vote to remain fair, secret and free from interference.
