Macron urges de-escalation after strikes on energy facilities in Middle East: Video
French President Emmanuel Macron has called for restraint following a series of strikes on key energy infrastructure across the Middle East, warning against attacks on civilian facilities.
Speaking on Thursday, March 19, upon arrival at the European Council, Macron criticised what he described as a dangerous escalation after Israel struck Iran’s South Pars Gas Field, one of the world’s largest natural gas reserves. Iran subsequently responded with a strike targeting a major liquefied natural gas facility in Qatar.
The exchange of attacks has raised concerns over regional stability and triggered a surge in global oil and gas prices.
