Man threatens migrant with knife before boarding Channel-bound dinghy

A man threatened a passenger with a knife before forcing his way onto an overcrowded migrant boat bound for Britain off the northern French coast on Friday.

Footage from near Hardelot-Plage showed the man approaching the dinghy in waist-deep water while holding a knife, as another passenger attempted to fend him off with a boot.

The man was heard shouting, “I will kill you,” before the knife appeared to fall into the water and he climbed aboard.

The incident came as small-boat crossings to Britain resumed on Thursday following a 21-day suspension caused by rough seas and strong winds.

According to UK Home Office figures, 263 migrants arrived in three boats on Thursday, bringing the year's total to 21,198, a 43% decline compared with the same period last year.
