NVIDIA’s quarterly data-centre revenue has surged from just $57 million in early 2014 to more than $75 billion in 2026, a roughly 1,300-fold increase that shows how artificial intelligence has transformed the chipmaker from a gaming-focused company into a dominant supplier of computing infrastructure.

Main Point

  • NVIDIA’s data-centre revenue hits $75.2 billion
  • AI revenue grows roughly 1,300-fold since 2014
  • Data centres now drive over 90% of NVIDIA revenue

NVIDIA’s quarterly data-centre revenue has surged from just $57 million in early 2014 to more than $75 billion in 2026, a roughly 1,300-fold increase that shows how artificial intelligence has transformed the chipmaker from a gaming-focused company into a dominant supplier of computing infrastructure.

NVIDIA reported record Data Centre revenue of $75.2 billion for its fiscal 2027 first quarter, which ended April 26, 2026. That was up 21% from the previous quarter and 92% from a year earlier, according to the company. Total quarterly revenue reached a record $81.6 billion, up 85% year-on-year.

The figures mean the Data Centre division generated about 92% of NVIDIA’s total quarterly revenue, underscoring how dramatically the company’s business has shifted towards the infrastructure used to train and run artificial intelligence systems.

The scale of the transformation is particularly stark when compared with NVIDIA’s position 12 years ago.

Our World in Data, using NVIDIA Corporation figures, found that Data Centre and AI-related quarterly revenue rose from $57 million in February-April 2014 to more than $75 billion in February-April 2026, an increase of roughly 1,300 times in nominal terms.

In early 2014, the segment represented only about 5% of NVIDIA’s revenue, with gaming then its largest business. By 2026, Data Centre and AI accounted for more than 90%.

The shift accelerated markedly following the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 and the subsequent race among technology companies to build and deploy increasingly computationally intensive generative AI systems.

According to Our World in Data, NVIDIA’s Data Centre and AI revenue doubled approximately every 16 months between 2014 and 2022. Since late 2022, the doubling time has shortened to about 11 months.

The growth reflects an extraordinary increase in the computing resources being deployed for artificial intelligence.

Our World in Data estimates that the computation used to train notable AI systems has doubled roughly every six months since 2010, compared with about every 21 months before the deep-learning era.

That expansion has increased demand for the graphics processing units, or GPUs, and networking systems needed to train and operate large AI models.

NVIDIA’s latest results show the scale of that spending. Data Centre compute revenue reached a record $60.4 billion in the quarter ended April 26, while Data Centre networking generated another $14.8 billion. Compute revenue rose 77% from a year earlier, while networking revenue nearly tripled, rising 199%.

The latest quarter also represents a sharp acceleration from only a year earlier. NVIDIA reported Data Centre revenue of $39.1 billion for the comparable quarter ending April 27, 2025.
