Powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake strikes Colombia
A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia on Monday morning, with damage and injuries reported in several parts of the country.
The earthquake struck at 7:34 a.m. (12:34 GMT) on Monday, 10 August, and was felt across much of Colombia, according to reports. The Colombian Geological Survey said the epicentre was near San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó, at considerable depth, while aftershocks were reported in several regions.
Images show damage in central and western parts of the country, including Cali, Manizales, Pereira and Quibdó. In Quibdó, a four-storey building collapsed, trapping people inside, while authorities assess the damage and emergency services work to determine the full extent of the impact.
