'The era of Bibi is over!' - Tel Aviv rally demands Netanyahu's ouster

Thousands of Israelis rallied at Tel Aviv's Hostages Square on Saturday, demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's removal and an independent investigation into the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack.

Demonstrators waved Israeli flags as opposition leaders, former hostages and victims' families joined calls for political change ahead of Tuesday's general election.

Protester Tzofnat Mor accused Netanyahu of failing Israel on security, diplomacy and social issues, urging voters to push for change.

“I think October 7th proved to all of us that he failed,” she said. Another protester, Eli Blair, declared that Netanyahu's era was over, saying Israelis wanted a fresh start.

Protesters also demanded a state commission of inquiry into the security failures surrounding October 7, accusing the government of avoiding accountability.

Netanyahu has opposed a judicially appointed inquiry, arguing it would be biased against his administration. Opposition parties have pledged to establish one if elected.

Israelis will vote on October 27 to elect a new 120-seat Knesset, with 61 seats required for a parliamentary majority.

The election will determine whether Netanyahu remains in power or opposition parties form a new government.
