US defence chief tells allies to “fight for yourselves” amid Iran tensions: Video
Pete Hegseth, US Secretary of War, said Washington’s allies should be prepared to defend themselves, warning they cannot rely solely on the United States.
Speaking on Monday, March 31, Hegseth stressed that countries need stronger military capabilities, echoing remarks by Donald Trump as divisions with Western allies continue to grow. The comments come as tensions escalate following US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliation.
Trump also suggested allies should secure their own energy supplies, while Iranian authorities warned access through the Strait of Hormuz could be restricted depending on countries’ positions in the conflict.
