'You need more people like me,' Trump's response to mental health criticism amid Iran tensions

US President Donald Trump on Monday, April 6, responded to criticism about his mental health following an expletive-filled social media post related to Iran.

During a press interaction, a reporter referenced Trump’s earlier remarks, saying: “Mr President, yesterday in your Truth Social, you called the Iranians crazy bastards.” Trump confirmed the statement, replying, “True.”

The journalist then asked: “What is your response to critics who say that it is your mental health that should perhaps be examined as this war continues?”

Trump responded: “I haven't heard that. But if that's the case, you're going to have to have more people like me, because our country was being ripped off on trade, on everything, for many years until I came along.”

The exchange followed a post Trump made on Sunday, April 5, in which he set a deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He wrote: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell.”
