Ben-Gvir calls for dismantling Palestinian Authority after West Bank shooting
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has called for the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority and tighter restrictions on Palestinian movement following a shooting in the occupied West Bank that left five Israelis wounded.
The attack occurred on Friday along Route 35 near Hebron, where two Palestinian gunmen reportedly opened fire, leaving two Israelis critically injured.
Israeli forces said they shot and killed both attackers at the scene.
Speaking after the incident, Ben-Gvir demanded the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority, arguing that its continued existence posed a security threat to Israel.
“We need to dismantle this thing called the Palestinian Authority. There cannot be a situation where we have a terror state inside Judea and Samaria,” he said, using the Israeli terminology for the West Bank.

Ben-Gvir also called for restrictions on roads shared by Israelis and Palestinians, arguing that Israeli security should take precedence over Palestinians' freedom of movement.
