Brazil's Lula taps new human rights minister

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has named state lawmaker Macae Evaristo as the country's new human rights minister, he said on Monday in a post on social platform Threads.

Former human rights minister Silvio Almeida was fired by Lula last week following accusations that he sexually harassed several women, including another cabinet minister.
