Iran vows powerful response as Trump threatens fresh US strikes

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned on Sunday that any new US or Israeli military attack would trigger a powerful response, following President Donald Trump's suggestion of fresh strikes on Tehran.

“We are not afraid, and we are ready to respond to any aggression against the territorial integrity of Great Iran with a response beyond their imagination,” Qalibaf told parliament in Tehran.

He insisted that threats of war or terrorism would not force Iran to abandon its national rights and interests.

His remarks came after Trump said on Saturday that the United States could launch strikes against Iran as early as Sunday, although he also suggested a diplomatic agreement remained possible.

“We're thinking about doing it, and maybe tomorrow,” Trump told reporters, adding that a deal with Tehran was still an option.

The exchange comes amid renewed speculation over military action, with US and Israeli forces reportedly preparing plans for possible strikes targeting Iran's nuclear, energy and missile infrastructure.

Washington and Tehran signed an interim peace agreement in June, brokered by Pakistan with Qatar's support, but the deal collapsed within weeks, with hostilities resuming in July.
