Chile deepens US ties to lead global energy transition: Video
Chile signed new cooperation agreements with the United States aimed at boosting critical minerals development and strengthening security collaboration.
The deals, announced in Santiago and led by Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna alongside US official Thomas Di Nanno, include a memorandum to expand investment across the critical minerals value chain and an updated security framework targeting organised crime. Authorities say the agreements position Chile as a strategic player in the global energy transition, not only as a resource supplier but also as a hub for technology and advanced processing, while reinforcing bilateral cooperation on issues such as drug trafficking, cybercrime and money laundering.
