Israel says it intercepted missile fired from Yemen; Houthis claim responsibility

The Israeli military said on Tuesday it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen toward Israel that triggered sirens in several areas in the country.

The Iran-aligned Houthis claimed responsibility for Tuesday's attack, saying they fired a ballistic missile at Jaffa.

Houthis have been firing at Israel and attacking shipping lanes, in what the group says is solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza war.

Most of the dozens of missiles and drones they have launched have been intercepted or fallen short. Israel has carried out a series of retaliatory strikes.
