Netanyahu warns Israel’s enemies of harsher strikes ahead of election
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the country’s enemies they would face even harsher military strikes during a visit to an air force base on Monday, as he campaigns to retain power ahead of the 27 October parliamentary election.
Netanyahu praised Israeli air force personnel and the military’s achievements, saying Israel was determined to defend itself. He repeated a similar warning made during a visit to Tel Nof airbase last month, when he claimed Israel had indications that its enemies were planning attacks ahead of the election.
That earlier visit sparked controversy after Israel’s Central Elections Committee ordered Netanyahu to remove a video of the appearance from his personal social media accounts, ruling that it contained elements of election propaganda. US President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Netanyahu’s re-election bid on Sunday.
