US President Donald Trump has predicted that the Iran war will end immediately after the November US midterm elections, arguing that Tehran cannot continue much longer.
Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday, Trump linked the timing of a possible end to the conflict to the upcoming election.
"I think the war is going to end immediately after the election," he said, referring to the November US midterms. "I think the war will end immediately after the election. Because they can't hold out any longer."
Trump also accused Iran of trying to influence the US election by continuing the conflict.

"They're desperate to try and affect the election so that we can get a nice, weak group of people in there and leave them alone and let them have their nuclear weapon. All they want is a nuclear weapon. And if they had a nuclear weapon, the whole world is in deep trouble," Trump added.
During the same exchange with reporters, Trump revealed that he had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week.
Asked, "Can you tell us about your conversation with President Putin?" Trump described the discussion positively.
"We had a great conversation. He is wanting to make a deal. And if Zelensky is wanting to make a deal, that would be very nice," he added.
Asked about the possibility of a trilateral meeting, Trump said: "It could happen. We had a good conversation. It could happen."
The two presidents reportedly discussed the recent visits to Moscow and Kiev by Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Trump had stressed his desire to see the Ukraine conflict brought to an end quickly.
"Trump clearly emphasised the desire to see the conflict end as soon as possible, which would immediately open up impressive and far-reaching prospects for fully restoring relations between the United States and Russia. In his view, this would have a particularly significant impact on trade and economic ties, bringing enormous benefits to both countries."
