Poland extends checks on borders with Germany, Lithuania

Poland will extend controls along its borders with fellow European Union members Germany and Lithuania by six months until October 1, its interior ministry said on Saturday.
Poland introduced temporary controls in July, echoing several other EU governments in reimposing frontier checks to stem illegal migration.
"This decision is due to the need to counteract illegal migration and ensure internal security," the ministry said in a post on X.
