World leaders gather in Beijing for Victory Day Parade: Video

China’s President Xi Jinping was joined by Russia’s Vladimir Putin and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un at the landmark Victory Day Parade in Beijing on Wednesday, September 3.

The parade is the centrepiece of the 80th Victory Day commemorations and opened with an address and troop inspection from Xi.

The 70-minute event featured advanced military displays, including missiles, tanks, fighter jets, and hundreds of domestically-built aircraft and ground armaments.

Leaders from 26 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America attended the event. Among them were Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian, Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa, Slovakia’s Robert Fico, and Serbia’s Aleksandar Vucic.

The parade marks the anniversary of the end of World War II and the Second Sino-Japanese War. It is regarded as China’s largest military parade in decades.
