South Korea's industry minister pressed U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick for favourable treatment on tariffs at their second meeting in less than a month, the ministry said on Saturday, as Seoul seeks to blunt the effect of U.S. President Donald Trump's measures.

Ahn Duk-geun met with Lutnick on Friday, three weeks after their first meeting in late February.

Ahn emphasised the need for the United States' favourable treatment of South Korea in the U.S. tariff plan, including those expected to be announced on April 2, due to the tightly bound nature of the two nations' economies and industries.

Both countries agreed to continue to discuss major issues, including tariff measures, the ministry said in a statement.
