Yemen’s Houthi rebels announce naval deployment against Saudi Arabia

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said they would deploy a naval fleet against Saudi Arabia and warned of further escalation, framing the move as a response to what they described as a continued siege and aggression.

In a statement, the group said the deployment would take effect immediately and described its approach as a “siege by siege” equation. It also asserted what it called the right of the Yemeni people to confront the blockade and escalate in response, saying the population had endured a prolonged and “cruel siege” alongside ongoing attacks.

The statement added that the Houthi forces were fully prepared for “all options” and warned that any escalation by Saudi Arabia would be met with “comprehensive escalation and force”. It framed the stance as a defence of a “just cause”, saying the Yemeni people had the right to respond “by all available means”.
