Tanzania welcomes the largest cruise ship on its Zanzibar shores

Tanzania, one of Africa's fastest-growing economies and widely known for its pristine beach fronts and blue hues skylines cannot be written off in world tourism.
A prominent tourist attraction is the Zanzibar archipelago, a collection of islands in Tanzania celebrated for its historical significance, archaeological sites, captivating sunsets, spice offerings, and hotels.
The story gets even better with Zanzibar as the island town that has carved another historic niche in the tourism landscape with the largest cruise ship of its kind docked on its shore.
The MS Zuiderdam, a Vista-class cruise ship carrying over 1500 tourists and 781 crew members, docked on the shores of Zanzibar on November 14, as part of its scheduled world tour.
According to The Citizen Tanzania, passengers and crew members will spend the whole of Wednesday, November 15 in Zanzibar after which the cruise ship will head to Mayotte – an overseas department of France.
The MS Zuiderdam, built by Fincantieri in Italy was launched in November 2000 and commenced service in January 2002. The ship measures 926 feet long and 105.8 feet wide and has a draft of 26 feet with a gross tonnage of 81,769GT.
This makes it the largest of its kind to dock on Zanzibar’s shores.
The MS Zuiderdam is outfitted with numerous amenities and features, encompassing 11 restaurants and cafes, 10 bars and lounges, a casino, a spa and fitness centre, a swimming pool with four whirlpools, a library, a theatre, and a nightclub.
