Venezuela protesters burn US and Israeli flags, reject post-quake ‘rescue’ presence
Dozens of demonstrators took to the streets of Caracas on Friday July 24, to protest against the presence of the United States and Israel in post-earthquake relief efforts, accusing both countries of political interference rather than humanitarian aid.
The protest coincided with celebrations marking the 243rd anniversary of independence hero Simón Bolívar, blending nationalist symbolism with anti-imperialist rhetoric. Footage showed participants waving banners denouncing “American imperialism” and burning US and Israeli flags, while chanting slogans rejecting foreign involvement in Venezuela’s recovery following the June 24 earthquakes.
Several protesters voiced strong accusations against the foreign missions. One demonstrator claimed that those involved in the rescue efforts were not genuine humanitarian actors but part of a broader agenda tied to geopolitical interests.
