'Barbarism in 21st century' - Spanish protesters slam Israel’s new death penalty law for Palestinians

Protesters in Madrid condemned what they described as Israel’s new death penalty law for Palestinians, calling it a form of “state terrorism” and a grave violation of prisoners’ rights.

Speaking at the demonstration, former Spanish lawmaker Angeles Maestro said the measure amounted to the legal consolidation of state violence, arguing that many Palestinians held in Israeli prisons had not received trials, convictions or legal defence.

Another protester described the law as “barbarism in the 21st century” and accused Israel and the United States of justifying abuses under the banner of religion.

The protest is the latest in Spain to denounce Israeli policies toward Palestinians amid continued anger over the conflict.
