Malaysia launches first Digital License System for Aviation
Malaysia has introduced Southeast Asia’s first online system for aviation licenses.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) created this platform, called eCLIPSE, to help aviation professionals manage their licenses more easily.
With eCLIPSE, pilots, air traffic controllers, and aircraft engineers can renew their licenses and check their certification status from anywhere.
The system removes the need for paperwork and speeds up the process, making it more efficient.
CAAM says the new system ensures all aviation workers in Malaysia keep their licenses up to date. It also helps track training, medical checks, and English language tests.

By going fully digital, the authority can monitor aviation records more effectively.
The Malaysian government believes this move will modernise the aviation industry.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the system will make the licensing process faster, cutting wait times from two weeks to just one. He also announced plans for a similar system for drone operators, which could allow instant approvals for licensed users.
CAAM is also looking at using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve eCLIPSE in the future. AI could help predict when licenses need renewal and automate compliance checks.
This aims to fully digitalise aviation licensing by 2027.
