Philippine Coast Guard investigates allision between chinese vessel and Filipino fishing boat
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) initiated an investigation into an alleged allision between a Chinese flag vessel and a Filipino fishing boat near Paluan, Occidental Mindoro, Luzon Island, earlier this week.
PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Galvan confirmed that efforts were underway to locate the Chinese bulk carrier vessel MV TAI HANG 8, en route to Indonesia.
"The report says that the vessel is a Chinese flag, and we are now coordinating with the flag state. We have existing protocols to go after maritime offenders,” Galvan said.

The incident resulted in the capsizing of the Filipino fishing boat, with all five crew members successfully rescued on December 5.
According to survivors' accounts, their stationary boat, connected to a fish aggregating device known as a payao, was allegedly struck by MV TAI HANG 8.
The foreign vessel purportedly left the scene, leaving the Filipino fishermen adrift.
The captain and owner of the fishing boat were advised to file a marine protest.

Galvan assured the public that the PCG is treating the matter seriously, emphasizing its commitment to pursuing maritime offenders through established protocols with other coast guards worldwide.
